“Songs & Stories of Turlough Carolan” 50 minute In-School Performance Wyndfall High Energy Celtic & Folk Rock In this concert, the life & musical creations of the famous Irish composer, Turlough O'Carolan, are presented. He was a harper who lived during the 17th century. Blinded by small pox, he went on the road with his harp. Turlough gave us approximately 1700 wonderful musical pieces, many of which are in the form of a “planxty” – his dedication to an acquaintance. He had a gift for capturing a person’s life experiences and personality with melody, harmony, rhythms & tempos. Upon request, can include lecture/demonstration of global wind instruments. Wyndfall, co-founded by Tom & Laurie Reese and vocalist/guitarist Chris Laughery, has developed concerts & residency programs for children. Tom & Laurie Reese have given musical workshops for children of all ages since the early 1980's, including lecture/demonstrations of global wind instruments, jazz & improvisation performance & clinics, & instrument design & building workshops.
