Informational Concert: 45-50 minutes
During this engaging concert, The Reese Project showcases how improvisation has become an important part of the American music known as jazz. Music is chosen from early blues styles through swing, jazz waltzes, latin rhythms, bebop, funk, and into modern jazz-based rock. Tunes are introduced briefly and associated with rhythms, or "feels," and styles of jazz. Students see full-time, professional musicians performing their craft -- real-time. They see real instruments such as flutes, pennywhistle, cello, guitar & drums. Songs showcase the classics of famous composers in addition to modern music including The Reese Project original material. Cafe Improv Workshop for music students available (2 or more sessions)
